UAE’s ambassador injured in Kandahar attack

UAE set up ‘operation room’ to follow up developments of attack

ABU DHABI, UAE (AA) – The United Arab Emirates’ ambassador to Afghanistan Jumuah Mohammed Abdullah al-Kabi and other UAE diplomats were injured in an attack that took place Tuesday in Kandahar, according to a statement issued by the UAE’s Foreign Ministry.

“The Foreign Ministry has set up an operation room to follow up the developments of this terrorist attack,” the statement read.

The Ministry statement didn’t mention the health situation of the ambassador nor the number of diplomats.

“The UAE’s ambassador was in a humanitarian mission in Kandahar with an aim to supporting the Afghani people,” the statement added.

No one has claimed responsibility on the attack yet.
