UK foreign secretary backs Trump’s ceasefire efforts, urges Putin to commit

LONDON (AA) - British Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Thursday expressed support for US President Donald Trump's recent progress toward reaching a ceasefire in Ukraine.

In a statement on X, Lammy said he had also discussed developments with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and emphasized the importance of restoring calm in the Middle East.

Lammy underscored the need for Russian President Vladimir Putin to commit to a full and immediate ceasefire without conditions, mirroring the stance taken like by Ukraine.

"Putin must commit to a full and immediate ceasefire without conditions – as Ukraine has done," he underlined.
