UK minister says 'no Brexit plan' before February

Brexit minister underlines he wants best possible access to EU markets along with best possible security arrangements

LONDON (AA) – The U.K. government will not publish any of its plans to leave the European Union until February, Brexit Minister David Davis said Wednesday.

Davis told a parliament commission that the plan will only be ready after a considerable amount of research and policy work, adding there were “quite a lot of decisions to be made”.

The Brexit minister also underlined that he wanted the best possible access to EU markets along with the best possible security arrangements.

Prime Minister Theresa May has repeatedly said her government would trigger the Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, which will formally initiate the Brexit process, but a High Court ruling ordered a parliamentary vote before taking the initial step.

The U.K. government appealed the decision at the Supreme Court and the decision is due early January.

Prime Minister May accepted a Labour Party motion early in December and agreed to reveal the government’s Brexit plan.

British voters decided to leave the European Union in a referendum held on June 23.
