ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine and Italy on Thursday signed a declaration of intent to expand long-term cyber capacity building as part of bilateral efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s digital infrastructure, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
“Italy shows what true partnership means: going beyond infrastructure to rebuild institutions, human capital, and peace,” Sybiha said on X after meeting with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
He noted that the agreement complements the 2024 Ukrainian-Italian security cooperation framework, marking “another step” in enhancing Ukraine’s resilience against Russia’s war.
Italy also allocated €1 million ($1.17 million) to support Kyiv through projects under the Tallinn Mechanism, a European initiative to bolster Ukraine’s cyber defense and reconstruction.
“We are deeply grateful to our Italian partners for all the support and joint efforts to strengthen Europe and transatlantic security,” Sybiha said.
