Ukraine says 4 injured due to Russian drone attack in city of Odesa

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said on Tuesday that at least four people were injured due to a Russian drone attack in the country’s southwestern city of Odesa.

“Four people were injured as a result of the Russian attack. … Doctors are providing everyone with the necessary assistance,” Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper said on Telegram.

Expressing that three of those injured were hospitalized in moderate condition, Kiper said that the other injured person received a concussion.

Late Monday, Kiper reported damage to the local energy infrastructure due to the attack, which he said resulted in emergency power outages in parts of the city.

“Utilities have already begun work on launching generators to operate critical infrastructure, including boiler rooms,” Kiper said.

Kiper further said that two private houses and a business center were damaged due to falling debris from the downed drones and because of the blast waves.

Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov later said on Telegram that the heat supply to residential houses in the city has since been restored.

Ukraine's Air Force later claimed in a statement that it downed 65 out of 99 drones launched by Russia on the Odesa region, as well as the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Mykolaiv regions.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the attack.
