Ukraine says Kyiv-Washington talks has begun in Riyadh

ISTANBUL (AA) - Talks between Ukraine and the US have begun in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said on Sunday.

"We’ve started the meeting with the American team in Riyadh," Umerov said on X, adding that they are implementing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's directive to “bring a just peace closer and to strengthen security.”

He noted that the issues being discussed in the talks include proposals to safeguard critical infrastructure and energy facilities.

"Today, we’re working through a number of complex technical issues — our delegation includes energy experts as well as military representatives from the naval and air components," Umerov added.
