Ukraine to launch digital weapons marketplace for frontline units

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine will launch a digital marketplace for military equipment in July to accelerate and simplify arms deliveries to combat units, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said Friday.

Umerov announced the Cabinet’s approval of the DOT-Chain Defence platform, a new arm of the existing DOT-Chain system, aimed at “radically transforming” how the military procures and receives equipment.

“Military units will be able to order what they need for their specific missions. They will see exactly what is coming, from whom, and when,” Umerov said in a statement on Facebook, emphasizing faster planning, reduced bureaucracy and quicker logistics.

Developed with Ukraine’s Digital Procurement Agency (DPA) and DOT, the platform will initially focus on first-person view (FPV) drones, later expanding to include other UAVs, electronic warfare tools and robotic systems.

The Defense Ministry claims the original DOT-Chain program already slashed food supply times by fourfold and digitized the majority of processes.

Umerov said the same model is now being scaled to meet urgent military demands. “We are scaling a solution that works,” he said.

The project is expected to involve defense manufacturers and military units.
