Ukraine's top diplomat, WFP chief discuss cooperation on food security at UN

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met World Food Program's (WFP) Executive Director Cindy McCain at the UN headquarters in New York, focusing on humanitarian cooperation, agricultural demining, and global food security.

Sybiha said the talks addressed Ukraine’s partnership with the UN agency to strengthen aid delivery and tackle food insecurity caused by the war with Russia.

“I underlined the importance of WFP’s voice in securing the freedom of navigation in the Black Sea,” he said on Telegram.

He added that despite the war, Ukraine “remains committed to reaffirming our role as a guarantor of global food security.” According to him, humanitarian food cargo from Ukraine has reached over 10 million people in 18 countries.

“I expressed gratitude to WFP and its team in Ukraine for their unwavering solidarity and help in delivering life-saving assistance for our people,” Sybiha said.
