UN dispatches 6 truckloads of aid to quake-hit victims in northwestern Syria

LONDON (AA) - The UN on Thursday sent six truckloads of humanitarian aid through Türkiye to Idlib, northwestern Syria following deadly earthquakes on Monday.

The trucks entered the Bab al-Hawa border crossing through the Cilvegozu border gate in Türkiye's southern Hatay province, Anadolu has confirmed.

The aid, sent as part of the UN's cross-border aid, will be delivered to quake-hit Syrians.

The long-running aid operation has been in place since 2014, with the Cilvegozu gate currently serving as the only path for UN aid.

More than 3,100 people have been killed and over 5,200 injured in Syria since two strong earthquakes jolted southern Türkiye on Monday.
