Russian President Vladimir Putin expresses condolences after blasts, which also injured some 50 people

ANKARA (AA) - At least 10 people were killed and dozens injured Monday when two explosions hit two metro stations in St. Petersburg, Russia, local media reported.
According to preliminary reports, the blasts took place at the Sennaya Ploshchad and Technological Institute stations, Russian news agency TASS said.
Andrey Kibitov, spokesman for the St. Petersburg governor's office, said some 50 people had been injured.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that President Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the explosions, according to TASS.
Putin expressed condolences for the victims of the explosions and said an investigation will "soon" determine a cause, the agency said.
He added that various causes are being considered, including a terrorist attack.
The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation following the blasts.
