ISTANBUL (AA) – At least 39 Palestinians were killed and others injured on Monday in a new wave of Israeli airstrikes in the war-torn Gaza Strip, medical sources said.

Seven Palestinians, including a child, lost their lives, and several others were injured in a strike targeting a tent sheltering displaced families in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

A Palestinian journalist was killed by Israeli army fire during a raid to arrest Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, director of field hospitals in the Gaza Strip in Rafah.

Five more people were also killed in several Israeli airstrikes in the central Deir al-Balah city, medics said.

Israeli drones killed one civilian in the Nuseirat refugee camp and another Palestinian in Wadi Gaza, in the central Gaza Strip.

Medics said that five bodies were transferred to the Shifa Hospital after Israeli forces shelled a crowd waiting for aid delivery near the Netzarim Corridor last night in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli drone strikes also killed five more civilians and wounded several others in the al-Nazla Roundabout in Jabalia in northern Gaza.

In Gaza City, Israeli strikes hit several targets, including a tent sheltering displaced civilians, residential apartments, a civilian gathering near a medical complex, and a desalination plant, killing 14 people and injuring several others.

Israeli fighter jets also hit a kindergarten in the same city, injuring one child.

Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip show no sign of abating, even as a deepening famine claims more lives.

At least 18 people have died from starvation over the past 24 hours alone, highlighting the escalating humanitarian catastrophe as relentless bombardment and deprivation converge to push civilians beyond the brink.

Israel has killed more than 59,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
