ATHENS (AA) - At least two passengers were killed and seven others injured when a train derailed in northern Greece on Saturday night, according to the railway company on Sunday.
Initially, the Trainose railway company had said five people were killed and four others injured in the incident. However, the company later retracted its statement and revised the casualty toll down.
The latest announcement on Trainose website mentions that three of the seven injured were in critical condition.
According to Trainose, a train heading from the capital, Athens, derailed a few kilometers (miles) away from northern Thessaloniki city and crashed into a building.
Seventy passengers and five crew members were aboard the train.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and were trying to identify the cause of the derailment.
