ISTANBUL (AA) – The Israeli army said Tuesday that two missiles had been fired by the Houthi group from Yemen.

A military statement said that air-raid sirens were activated in several areas across the country after a missile was fired from Yemen.

No casualties or material damage occurred, the army said.

Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, citing a military statement, said that another missile was launched from Yemen hours after the first strike.

The missile fell before reaching Israel, the broadcaster said, without giving further details.

For his part, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree confirmed the attack, stating that it “successfully hit its target.”

Saree said that a hypersonic ballistic missile targeted Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and caused the halt of airport operations.

On Monday, the Houthis carried out drone attacks on Israeli targets, following Israeli strikes targeting western Al-Hudaydah Port, which the army claimed destroyed the group's military infrastructure.

The Houthis have intensified missile and drone strikes on Israel since Israeli forces resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip in March after two months of a shaky ceasefire.

Since November 2023, the group has also targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 59,100 victims have been killed in an Israeli onslaught.
