UPDATE - 2 soldiers wounded in knife attack in central Israel

JERUSALEM (AA) - Two Israeli soldiers were wounded in a knife attack in central Israel on Tuesday, police said.

In a statement, the Israeli police said that they have arrested a suspect involved in the stabbing of two soldiers in the city of Rishon Lezion and he is being interrogated.

The Israeli Army Radio said that one of the wounded soldiers was in serious condition.

Earlier, the Israel Broadcasting Authority, said a Palestinian stabbed and injured two Israelis in the city of Rishon Lezion, without identifying the injured.

The authority said the attacker was shot and another was detained, it said without giving more details whether both of them were involved in the incident.

Israeli police forces launched a search operation in the area following the attack.
