Turkish army says deaths took place in Cukurca district of Hakkari province
UPDATES WITH TERRORISTS KILLED IN KARS, SIRNAK
ANKARA (AA) – Four PKK terrorists were killed in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province on Sunday, according to the Turkish army.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the terrorists were killed by tank fire near the Cukurca district of Hakkari.
Including the latest deaths, the total number of terrorists killed in operations across Hakkari since Aug. 4 is 338, according to the military. The statement added that 221 of these were in Cukurca.
In addition, seven PKK terrorists were killed in an air operation in the eastern province of Kars late on Saturday. According to Kars governor's office, the terrorists were detected in the Cemce-Madur region of Kagizman by a drone. Four of them were killed by fire from Turkish Atak helicopters. Later, the three terrorists were killed in an air-backed operation.
Moreover, nine PKK terrorists were killed in southeastern Sirnak province's Beytussebap district on Sunday, according to the Sirnak governorship.
During the operation, two bomb-laden vehicles were destroyed and weapons, ammunition and explosive materials seized.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of numerous civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in army operations.
