ISTANBUL (AA) – At least 22 people were killed and 16 others injured when two residential buildings collapsed in northern Morocco in the early hours of Wednesday, according to local media.

The official news agency MAP, citing local authorities, said that two adjacent four-story buildings, housing eight families, collapsed in the Al-Massira neighborhood of Fes.

The state-run 2M TV channel said that civil defense teams continued working at the scene to search for survivors.

No details were provided on the cause of the incident.

The injured were taken to hospital, while nearby homes were evacuated, according to the news agency.
