ANKARA/ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army killed 80 Palestinians in several areas across the blockaded Gaza Strip on Wednesday, including 57 aid seekers, medical sources told Anadolu.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said 57 people were killed and 363 wounded when Israeli forces opened fire toward people waiting to get humanitarian aid in the central and southern Gaza Strip.
According to Palestinian figures, at least 224 Palestinian aid seekers have been killed and more than 1,858 injured by Israeli army fire in Gaza since May 27.
The Israeli aid distribution mechanism has been widely rejected and criticized by the international community, including the UN.
The Israeli army killed three Palestinians in a strike targeting a gathering of civilians in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to a medical source.
A woman and two children were also killed in an Israeli strike on their tent west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the source reported.
Gaza's Civil Defense teams recovered 11 bodies following overnight Israeli airstrikes in various parts of the enclave, officials said.
Two Palestinians were killed and several injured in an Israeli strike targeting civilians in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, a medical source said.
The Israeli army also killed four Palestinians in a drone strike on a tent for displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 55,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
As Israel has continued to close all Gaza’s border crossings to humanitarian aid since early March, aid agencies have warned about the risk of famine among Gaza’s 2.4 million inhabitants.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
