AMMAN, Jordan/ISTANBUL (AA) - Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday for a “fraternal” visit, the Emirati state news agency WAM reported.

Abdullah was greeted by Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan as he arrived at the Al-Bateen Airport, according to WAM.

Abdullah II met the UAE president in Abu Dhabi, the Jordanian Royal Court said in a statement.

“The meeting, held at Al Bateen Palace, touched on the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and peoples, as well as ways to expand cooperation across all fields,” said the court.

The two leaders stressed “the need to maintain coordination on various issues of mutual concern, in the best interests of the two countries and bolstering their security and stability, as well as in service of Arab causes.”

Regional developments were also discussed, particularly efforts to stop the war in the Gaza, Strip, resume the flow of humanitarian aid in the enclave, stop dangerous escalations in the West Bank and reject any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, the Royal Court highlighted.

Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh accompanied the king on his visit.​​​​​​​
