By Hajer M'tiri

PARIS (AA) - French prosecutors have ruled out terrorism as a motive after a woman died and another was seriously injured when a van was driven into them in Marseille, southern France, on Monday.

Marseille prosecutor's office said their investigation was “oriented towards a psychiatric motive".

The incident took place at bus stops in two different areas of the city at around 9.15 a.m. local time (0715 GMT).

Police arrested the driver, described as being 35-years-old and suffering psychological problems. He is known to police for minor criminal offenses, none terrorism-related.

The suspect drove a stolen white van towards a bus stop in the city's 13th district, leaving a 29-year-old woman seriously wounded, before targeting another stop in the 11th district, killing a 40-year-old woman identified as Julien Ravier, a local mayor told broadcaster BFMTV.
