Egypt suffers from frequent train accidents due to what critics describe as mismanagement, poor infrastructure

CAIRO (AA) - At least 36 people were killed and another 123 injured on Friday when two trains collided in Egypt’s coastal city of Alexandria, according to the Egyptian Health Ministry.
The deadly incident reportedly took place in the Khorshid district on Alexandria’s outskirts.
Thirty ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident while local health authorities have reportedly been put in a state of high alert.
In a previous statement the ministry said that 20 people were killed and another 88 injured in the incident.
Egypt has seen several rail accidents in recent years, due largely to what critics describe as mismanagement and antiquated infrastructure.
