BIST 100 index gains 0.97 point from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index ended with gains on Thursday to hit another record closing of 1,625.06 points, while it hit a new intraday all-time high level of 1,643.82 points during the session.

After starting the day at 1,622.02 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 0.97 point, or 0.06%, from Wednesday's close of 1,624.09 points.

This was the sixth consecutive trading day that the BIST 100 posted an all-time high, and the seventh day in a row the index closed with gains.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,621.49 points and its daily high was 1,643.82 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.28 trillion Turkish liras ($131.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 33.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.38 billion).

A total of 36 stocks on the index rose, while 60 fell and four remained unchanged compared to Wednesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by petrochemical firm Petkim, private lender Garanti BBVA, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Shares of automotive company Dogus Otomotiv performed the best, rising 9.96%, while stocks of real estate investment trust Emlak Konut​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​dropped the most, 3.32%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,860 at 6.26 p.m. local time (1526GMT) for a 0.6% daily gain, according to official figures.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.3% to $82.90 per barrel at the time.
