UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at mid-week close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 95,905.35 points, dropping slightly by 0.13%, on Wednesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 96,493.19 points. As of closing, it lost 125.12 points from Tuesday's close of 96,030.47 points.

The benchmark index hovered between 95,291.50 and 96,596.66 points during Wednesday's trading.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 639.5 billion Turkish liras ($109.8 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 6.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion).

On the third transaction day of the week, 51 stocks on the index rose, 39 were down, and 10 were flat compared to the previous close.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines and private lender Yapi Kredi.

Share of Adese Alisveris Merkezleri, which operates in the wholesale and retail trade sector, increased the most, up 16.24%, while Yapi Kredi was the worst performer, with its share down 5.98%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,542.30 by market close, up from $1,529.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $59.80 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
