ANKARA (AA) - A high-level meeting of Turkey’s military leadership ended in capital Ankara Wednesday.

The Supreme Military Council (YAS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Binali Yildirim at Cankaya Palace lasted for about four hours.

Decisions taken in the meeting are expected to be shared with the public after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ratifies them.

The meeting is a bi-annual gathering that discusses appointments and retirements of high-ranking staff officers and generals, as well as the removal of military personnel.

Earlier, YAS members visited the mausoleum of the Republic of Turkey’s founding father, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, before the meeting at Cankaya Palace began.

Military reassignments and promotions are expected to be discussed in the wake of last year’s defeated coup.

Erdogan will later host a dinner for YAS members at the presidential complex at 6 p.m. local time (0300GMT).
