UPDATE - Turkish stocks up at Tuesday close
Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index rises 6.85 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday up 0.49% to close at 1,395.40 points.
After starting the day at 1,394.42 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 6.85 points from 1,388.55 points at Monday's close.

On Tuesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,385.19 and 1,399.86 points – 44 stocks on the index rose, 49 fell, and four were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of some 1 trillion Turkish liras ($130.7 billion), the benchmark index posted a historic high daily trading volume of 31 billion Turkish liras ($4 billion).
Shares of state lender Garanti BBVA, energy firm Odas, and iron/steel producer Kardemir saw the highest trading volumes.
Stocks of major cardboard producer Kartonsan (KARTN) saw the best performance, up 10%, while shares of diesel engine and tractor manufacturer Tumosan Motor (TMSN) did the worst, losing 5.97%.
On Tuesday, the Treasury and Finance Ministry announced that the Turkish central government posted a budget deficit of 132.5 billion Turkish liras ($19 billion) in January-November, widening 42.1% year-on-year.

One ounce of gold sold for $1,846.60 by market close, up from $1,825.00, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent oil was $50.50 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Tuesday, with a daily range of $49.78 to $50.74.
