UPDATE - Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul closes week in green

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index posted gains at weekly close, rising 0.61% to 2,051.05 points on Friday.

Starting the day at 2,023.04 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 12.38 points from Tuesday's close of 2,038.67 points.

On a weekly basis, the benchmark index posted an increase of 5.5% this week.

During the day, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,992.30 points and 2,052.50 points – 52 stocks on the index rose, 41 fell, and seven were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the week with a market value of around 1.6 trillion Turkish liras ($121.3 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 32.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producers Kardemir and Eregli recorded the highest trading volumes on Friday.

Stocks of Ege Endustri (EGEEN), which manufactures components for the automotive industry, enjoyed a 8.43% hike, while shares of iron/steel producer Iskenderun Demir Celik dropped the most, 4.27%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,831.50 by market close, down from $1,842.80 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

Price of Brent crude oil was around $92.55 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday - with a day range of $90.53 to $92.74.
