ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine on Thursday said that at least seven people were killed in an overnight Russian drone attack targeting a residential building in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy.
A statement from Ukraine's State Emergency Service said on Telegram that the body of another person was recovered from the scene of the attack, raising the death toll to six.
"As of 5 p.m. (1300GMT), 13 people, including a child, were injured," the statement said.
Emergency teams continue to remove debris and conduct rescue operations at the site, it added.
Previously, the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office said on Telegram that the death toll stood at six.
Zelenskyy, in a statement on X, condemned the attack on the residential apartment as a "horrific tragedy," urging the international community to keep the pressure on Russia.
Ukraine's Air Force claimed in a statement on Telegram that its air defenses shot down 37 out of 76 drones launched by Russia overnight on 10 regions of the country.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the attack.
