ANKARA/SANAA, Yemen (AA) – The Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen announced that a US airstrike on the northern province of Saada killed 11 people, including four children and a woman, local sources said Saturday.
Sources said the strike targeted a house in the Kahza region in northern Saada city, killing 10 victims and injuring 13, according to initial reports.
The Houthi-affiliated SABA news agency, citing security sources, reported that a separate US strike in the Sakayn district of Saada killed one civilian and wounded another.
The latest attacks bring the number of deaths from US and UK airstrikes on Yemen in the last 24 hours to 24, with at least 23 wounded.
Iran-backed Houthis also announced that US and UK warplanes targeted areas around Zamar city and the Anes district.
A report on the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television provided no details on casualties or damage from the strikes.
The Houthis warned Israel on March 7 to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip within four days or face renewed maritime operations against Israeli-linked vessels.
The US launched airstrikes on Yemen’s Houthis as President Donald Trump warned that “hell will rain down” if the Iran-backed group continues attacks on Red Sea shipping.
The Houthis have been attacking Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since late 2023, disrupting global trade, for what it said was a show of solidarity with the Gaza Strip.
The group halted attacks when a Gaza ceasefire was declared in January between Israel and Hamas. But it threatened to resume the attacks when Israel blocked all aid into Gaza on March 2.
