US Africa Command accuses Russia, China of ‘malign activity,’ disinformation

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) on Monday accused Russia and China of “malign activity” and disinformation on the continent.

AFRICOM does its “best to refute false information that both Russia and China put out about what we are, what we do on the continent,” Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. John W. Brennan told a news conference.

He said they spend billions of dollars and use social media, bots, and trolls to spread “false narratives.”

A network of allies and partners helps AFRICOM refute “the false information by using the truth,” Brennan said, calling it the military command’s primary effort.

There was no immediate reaction from Russia and China to the accusations.
