US air travel 'back to normal,' says Federal Aviation Administration

WASHINGTON (AA) - The US air travel is “back to normal” as of Thursday morning, said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“FAA operations are back to normal, and we are seeing no unusual delays or cancellations this morning,” the agency wrote on Twitter.

The statement came as 1,320 flights in the US were delayed, with about 115 cancellations on Thursday as of 11.30 am local time (18.30 GMT), according to data flight tracking site FlightAware.

More than 10,000 flights were delayed Wednesday, according to FlightAware.

The FAA provides air traffic services to more than 45,000 flights daily carrying 2.9 million passengers in the National Airspace System, according to its website.

The system is an airspace network that includes air navigation facilities, airports and landing areas.​​​​​​​
