US existing home sales fall 8.4% in January

NEW YORK (AA) - Existing home sales in the US fell more than expected month-on-month in January, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) announced on Thursday.

Seasonally adjusted existing home sales in the country fell 8.4% in January to 3.91 million, missing the market expectation of 4.16 million.

In December 2025, the number of existing home sales had increased by 4.4% to 4.27 million.

Existing home sales also declined by 4.4% on an annual basis in January.

The median home price in the US resale market rose 0.9% year-on-year in January to $396,800.
