US lawmaker predicts bipartisan support for full release of Epstein files

'Today we get the 218 signature, and then we'll get the full release vote in early December,' says Ro Khanna

WASHINGTON (AA)— US Representative Ro Khanna said Wednesday that lawmakers are moving closer to a full release of all files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"We need a full release of the files. Finally, that's going to happen," Khanna told reporters on Capitol Hill.

Khanna added that the effort could receive significant bipartisan support in the House.

"If we get a huge vote here in the house. I mean, I believe we get 40-50 Republicans voting with us on the release. And if we get that kind of overwhelming vote, that's going to push the Senate, and it's going to push for a release of the files from the Justice Department," he added.

The last signature required for the discharge petition, filed earlier this year by Khanna and Rep. Thomas Massie, is anticipated from Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, who is set to be sworn in on Wednesday.

"It's going to be historic. You know, today we get the 218 signatures, and then we'll get the full release vote in early December," Khanna said.
