US lawmakers will be able to review unredacted Epstein documents next week: Report

'When Congress pushes back, Congress can prevail,' says Rep. Ro Khanna

WASHINGTON (AA) - Members of Congress will be allowed to review millions of pages of unredacted government records related to late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein next week, according to a report published Friday.

Lawmakers will be able to access the material at the Justice Department beginning Monday, but will not have access to the original documents, NBC News reported, citing a letter to members of Congress it obtained. Lawmakers will be able to review the files in person, provided that they give the Justice Department 24 hours notice.

They will be able to take notes, but will be prohibited from bringing electronic devices.

Members of Congress will only be able to review unredacted copies of the 3 million documents that the Justice Department has already made public. That is just about half of all files the agency has acknowledged are in its possession.

"When Congress pushes back, Congress can prevail," said Rep. Ro Khanna, who, along with Rep. Thomas Massie, penned a letter to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last Friday demanding access to the unredacted files.

"@RepThomasMassie & I have always believed that Congress must not be a doormat. Not when it comes to the Epstein files. Not when it comes to stopping dumb wars," he added.
