ISTANBUL (AA) - The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced Wednesday that it will not release the full jobs report for October, after the longest federal government shutdown in history.
The agency said a complete report for November will be made available with the October payroll data.
The BLS said the data "could not be collected" due to the shutdown, so the unemployment rate for October will not be included in the numbers.
Additionally, the BLS pushed the release of November’s jobs data from Dec. 5 to Dec. 16.
The US Federal Reserve will have less information about the overall status of the economy because the revised date is six days after the Fed's last policy meeting of the year.
In the absence of the complete October data and in light of some Fed officials' recent hawkish remarks, speculators might be pricing in a decreased likelihood of another rate cut.
According to CME FedWatch, traders were pricing in a 31.6% chance of a 25-basis-point cut in December on Wednesday, down from a 63.8% probability the previous week.
The longest shutdown in US history, 43 days, ended Nov. 13 after President Donald Trump signed into law an agreement to fund the government through the end of January.
The shutdown caused a blackout for economic data releases, including crucial data such as inflation and employment, which the Fed looks at when determining monetary policy.
