WASHINGTON (AA) – The US State Department approved the potential sale of FIM-92K Stinger Block I missiles to Morocco, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
The estimated cost is $825 million.
"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a major non-NATO ally that continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in North Africa," it said.
The principal contractors will be RTX Corporation in Arizona and Lockheed Martin in New York.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the possible sale Tuesday.
