US to restore funding for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty
March 15 letter ending grant agreement is 'rescinded,' says US Agency for Global Media official

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US Agency for Global Media (USAGM) has reversed its decision to revoke funding for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Earlier this month, the Trump administration moved to defund the independent federal agency that oversees the Voice of America, and provides grants to other news outlets.
The March 15 letter ending the grant agreement is "rescinded," said Kari Lake, senior adviser to the acting CEO with authorities delegated by acting CEO, in a letter dated Wednesday.
However, the USAGM retains the right to terminate the grant in the future if deemed justified, Lake added.
Earlier this week, US District Judge Royce C. Lamberthn granted Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's request for a temporary restraining order, allowing the broadcaster, launched in 1950, to remain on air and online for now.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty filed a lawsuit last week to challenge Trump's shutdown order, arguing it would violate the Constitution and federal laws.
