US wholesale inventories grow less than expected in October

Wholesale inventories increase 0.5%, trade sales up 0.4%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Wholesale inventories in the US rose 0.5% in October to $923.8 billion, according to Commerce Department figures released on Friday.

The figure, which measures the change in the total value of goods held in inventory by wholesalers, was expected to show a rise of 0.8% from the previous month.

The figure in September was revised to $918.9 billion for a monthly gain of 0.6%.

Wholesale trade sales, also known as the total sales of merchant wholesalers, increased 0.4% to $700.8 billion in October.

The figure came in line with market expectation, while the monthly gain in September was revised down from 0.4% to 0.1%.
