ANKARA (AA) - A Vietnamese delegation visited Anadolu Agency headquarters in Ankara on Friday.

The delegation, headed by Pham Van Linh, standing vice chairman of the central steering committee for external information service and central commission for communication and education of Vietnam, was received by Anadolu Agency Deputy Director General Mustafa Ozkaya.

Linh said they were visiting Anadolu Agency to have a better understanding of Turkey's news structure.

He said Vietnam and Turkey share similarities. “Turkey's population is 80 million and Vietnam's is 92 million, and both countries have an important position in their regions,” he said.

Linh added that cooperation should be enhanced between Anadolu Agency and news agencies in South East Asia, especially Vietnam.

Ozkaya also briefed the delegation on Anadolu Agency’s principles of journalism and future projects.

The delegation was briefed on the agency’s international operations, war journalism education, and the Anadolu Agency's Istanbul Photo Awards, where worldwide participants apply every year.

Ozkaya said the agency will open offices in Beijing, Jakarta and Bogota, stating that the number of worldwide offices will soon reach 42.

The possibility of sending correspondents to both countries was also discussed.

Anadolu Agency has 39 offices worldwide and produces news stories in 11 languages.

It currently posts news in Turkish, English, Arabic, French, Kurdish, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian (BCS), Russian, Albanian, Persian, Macedonian and Indonesian.

The agency also plans to launch a Spanish service soon.
