Western Balkans hold march to support Ukraine

Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo organize marches, ceremonies

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Western Balkan countries held support marches Friday for Ukraine to mark the one-year mark of its war with Russia.

Hundreds in Serbia's capital of Belgrade gathered to show solidarity with Ukrainians.

Participants at the March of Solidarity and Peace – 365 Days Unbroken, unfurled a Ukrainian flag.

The group included Ukrainians, Serbians, Russians and members of the diplomatic corps and the head of the EU Delegation but no Serbian officials.

Marchers carried banners that read: ''Ukraine Will Win'', ''Peace for Ukraine'' and ''Stop the War in Ukraine''.

Croatia's capital, Zagreb, also hosted a march.

A Ukrainian flag was hung on official buildings in solidarity.

A ceremony was held in the Assembly of Kosovo to show solidarity.

The ceremony was attended by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Ukrainian journalists working in Kosovo, as well as the country's high-level representatives and ambassadors.

Osmani said Kosovans opened their hearts and doors to Ukrainian journalists because they know the importance of protecting and sharing the truth.

Kurti said as Kosovo is ready to host 5,000 Ukrainian asylum seekers.

Ukrainian journalists organized a march in support in Pristina and candles were lit in memory of those killed.

Ukrainian flags were hung in Kosovo's main squares.
