White House drafting order to tackle alleged voter 'fraud' in California: Spokesperson

HAMILTON, Canada (AA) - The Trump administration is drafting an executive order to tighten election rules following claims of voter "fraud" in the state of California, the White House said Tuesday.

"The White House is working on an executive order to strengthen our elections in this country and to ensure that there cannot be blatant fraud, as we've seen in California with their universal mail-in voting system," spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters at a news conference.

She defended President Donald Trump's remarks about California's elections, saying, "It's absolutely true that there are fraud, and there's fraud in California's elections. It's just a fact."

Leavitt added that California's mail-in voting system is "ripe for fraud" and said the administration has evidence to support the claim.

"They have a universal mail-in voting system, which we know is ripe for fraud, and if you want to deny that, I'm happy to provide you all of the evidence for it,” she said.
