Wiggins-led Warriors beat Timberwolves to spoil Edwards' career night

Golden State Warriors stay atop Western Conference with 123-110 win over Minnesota Timberwolves in San Francisco

ANKARA (AA) - The Andrew Wiggins-led Golden State Warriors earned a 123-110 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Wednesday NBA game even though Anthony Edwards scored a career-high 48 points for the losing team.

Wiggins, 26, who is a former Timberwolves small forward, scored 35 points, his best performance this season.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry racked up 25 points at San Francisco's Chase Center.

The winning team's center Kevon Looney racked up a double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds.

Warriors' Jordan Poole added 14 points.

In addition to Edwards' 48 points, Minnesota point guard D'Angelo Russell had 18 points and produced seven assists.

Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns scored 17 points and took 12 rebounds.

Despite Naz Reid adding 16 points for the Timberwolves, they were handed their sixth straight loss in the 2021-22 season.

The Timberwolves now have a 3-7 win/loss record, putting them near the bottom of the Western Conference.

But the Warriors, the Western leaders, improved 10-1 on the regular season, in a significant performance.

They also extended their winning streak to six games in the 2021-22 campaign.

In their next fixture, the Warriors will face the Chicago Bulls at Chase Center on Friday.

Sitting in the number two position in the Eastern standings, the Bulls are one of the prominent franchises this season with eight wins and three losses.

Meanwhile the Bulls on Wednesday beat the Dallas Mavericks 117-107 at Chicago's United Center.

Zach LaVine scored 23 points against the Mavericks to be the game’s top scorer.

Chicago guard Lonzo Ball bagged 21 points.

Bulls center Nikola Vucevic tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Chicago star DeMar DeRozan added 17 points.

The Mavericks were quite balanced in the scoring sheet as Kristaps Porzingis scored 22, Tim Hardaway Jr. had 21, and team star Luka Doncic racked up 20 points.

Porzingis also took 12 rebounds, and Doncic made 10 assists.

Following the loss, Dallas ranked fifth in the West with a 7-4 win/loss record.
