xAI's finance chief resigns after 4 months: Report

ISTANBUL (AA) - The chief financial officer (CFO) of billionaire Elon Musk's xAI firm stepped down after four months on the job, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Mike Liberatore, who had been the CFO since April, departed at the end of July, according to the report.

The departure is the latest of xAI's high-profile executives' resignations. Last month, co-founder Igor Babuschkin announced he left the company to launch his own AI safety investment company.

Earlier in August, xAI's legal chief, Robert Keele, also left.

The decisions by those in high-profile posts to leave the company have come as the rivalry among AI firms that are investing heavily in developing and implementing cutting-edge systems, like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic is intensifying.

Liberatore previously worked as finance executive at large firms such as Airbnb, PayPal, eBay and Intel.
