Zambia anti-corruption body probes former minister
Ex-Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili, who was recently fired from his job, has been accused of corruption
By Francis Maingaila
LUSAKA, Zambia (AA) - An anti-corruption commission has launched a probe into alleged corrupt practices involving the former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chishimba Kambwili, who recently was fired from his job.
The commission’s Public Relation Manager, Timothy Moono, in a statement said a probe had been launched after reports of Kambwili’s malpractices were received.
“Acting on this report, the commission has launched an inquiry against Hon. Kambwili. These are on-going and the commission would, therefore, not wish to comment further because doing so may jeopardize the investigations,” it said.
On Nov. 8, President Edgar Lungu fired Mr. Kambwili without stating the reason for his dismissal.
On Oct. 31, Lungu had warned ministers against corruption, saying he would not hesitate in firing them.
