Zelenskyy says Ukraine delegation to brief on ‘sensitive’ Abu Dhabi talks on Saturday

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian delegation returning from Abu Dhabi will report on the most sensitive aspects of the negotiations, noting that details of the talks cannot be discussed remotely.

In a video address, Zelenskyy said the delegation would return late in the evening and brief him the next day on issues discussed during the talks in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

“I have scheduled a meeting with our delegation for tomorrow,” Zelenskyy said. “The guys are returning to Ukraine tonight, late in the evening, and tomorrow there will be reports on those sensitive aspects of the talks in Abu Dhabi that cannot be discussed over the phone.”

He said Ukraine is preparing for the next stage of negotiations, including trilateral meetings, and noted that talks with European partners are also planned.

Zelenskyy underlined that diplomatic efforts remain a priority alongside military and energy challenges, stressing that all state institutions must focus on supporting Ukraine’s stability, defense, and independence.

The president also referred to Ukraine’s parliamentary diplomacy in the US, praising the work of Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, who has held meetings with US lawmakers, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, and other supporters of Ukraine.

“Support for Ukraine is the approach of conditions when war will lose its meaning for Russia,” Zelenskyy said.

Russia, Ukraine, and the US held a two-day meeting on Ukrainian settlement in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday. At the conclusion, the parties agreed to conduct the first prisoner exchange in five months, which took place immediately.

A joint communique on the meeting's outcomes described the discussions as "constructive" and "focused on ways to create conditions for achieving a lasting peace."
