Asian markets close Monday in positive territory

All major stock exchanges in Asia close in green with Japanese markets closed for Coming of Age Day

ANKARA (AA) – Stock markets in Asia closed Monday with gains as the omicron variant of coronavirus is spreading rapidly across the world and the US Federal Reserve has signaled an early interest rate hike.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 19.77 points, or 0.52%, to close at 3,813 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, increased 235.16 points, or 1.08%, to 23,747.

China's Shanghai stock exchange went up 13.98 points, or 0.39%, to 3,593, while the Indian Sensex benchmark climbed 553.31 points, or 0.93%, to close at 60,298 points.

The Singapore index also gained 21.50 points, or 0.67%, to 3,227.

Japanese stock exchange was closed on Monday for Coming of Age Day, an annual holiday.
