Asian markets end Wednesday in negative territory
Persistent concerns over rising inflation, worldwide spread of omicron variant dent investors' risk appetite

ANKARA (AA) – Amid persisting inflation and omicron concerns, most Asian markets closed in negative territory on Wednesday.
The Asia Dow, which includes the region’s blue-chip companies, lost 62.95 points, or 1.64%, to close at 3,777 points.
The Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo shed 790.02 points, or 2.80%, to end the day at 27,467, while China’s Shanghai stock exchange dropped by 11.73 points, or 0.33%, to 3,558.
The Indian Sensex benchmark plummeted by 644.16 points, or 1.06%, to close at 60,110.
On the other hand, the Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, went up by 15.25 points, or 0.43%, to 24,112, while the Singapore index rose by 3.90 points, or 0.12%, to 3,283.
