Asian stock markets close Thursday in red

Excluding Shanghai, Asian markets close day with decreases

ISTANBUL (AA) – Asian stocks ended in the negative territory on Thursday, except for the Shanghai index in China, where the pandemic measures have begun to be lifted gradually.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, lost 61.86 points, or 1.85%, to close at around 3,290 points.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange was down 508.36 points, or 1.89%, to 26,402 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, decreased 523.60 points, or 2.54%, to 20,120 points.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange rose 10.99 points, or 0.36%, to close at 3,096 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark was down 1,416.30 points, or 2.61%, to end the day at 52,792 points.

The Singapore index fell 34.64 points, or 1.07%, to close at 3,190 points.
