ISTANBUL (AA) - Asian stock markets ended the week with gains on Friday, except for India.

The rise was prompted by US President Donald Trump's remarks following the signing of his decision to develop a comprehensive plan for non-reciprocal arrangements in US trade relations.

"I have decided, for purposes of fairness, that I will charge a reciprocal tariff, meaning whatever countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them. No more, no less.

"In other words, they charge us a tax or tariff, and we charge them the exact same tax or tariff. Very simple," he said.

The Hong Kong Hang Seng index rose 3.69%, or 805.96 points, to 22,620.33, while the Shanghai index grew 0.43%, or 14.24 points, to 3,346.72.

The Shenzhen Component also increased 1.16%, or 122.83 points, to 10,749.46, and South Korea's Kospi index soared 0.31% to 2,591.05 in a 7.88-point rise.

India's Sensex index bucked the trend, falling 0.26% (199.76 points) to 75,939.21.
