ANKARA (AA) - The Bank of England on Friday delayed the next meeting of its monetary policy committee for a week due to "the period of national mourning" after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The new rates decision would instead be announced at noon on Sept. 22.
"It was with profound sadness that I learned of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. On behalf of everyone at the Bank, I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to the Royal Family. For most of us, she is the only head of state we have ever known," said the bank's governor, Andrew Bailey.
The queen passed away at the Balmoral Castle in Aberdeen, Scotland on Thursday. She was 96.
