Booming energy prices push EU inflation up
Energy prices soar 31.7% in February versus same month in 2021

ISTANBUL (AA) – The eurozone annual inflation rate was 5.8% in February, up from 5.1% in January, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat on Wednesday.
Energy prices jumped 31.7% last month versus the same month in 2021, followed by food-alcohol-tobacco (4.1%) and non-energy industrial goods (3%), official figures showed.
According to preliminary figures, the highest inflation rate was seen in Lithuania with 13.9, while the lowest one was 4.1% in France.
The prices also increased 0.9% month-on-month in February.
