Borsa Istanbul down at Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index ended at 7,412.20 points on Tuesday, down by 0.78%, or 57.90 points, from the previous close.

During the day, the highest level of Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was 7,504.38, with the lowest at 7,359.49.

The trading saw 34 indexes gaining value, while 64 lost.

The daily transaction volume reached 137.7 billion Turkish liras ($5.09 billion), while the overall value of the index was 6.3 trillion Turkish liras ($232.9 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.0150 as of 5.50 p.m. local time (GMT1450), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.6080, and the British pound traded at 34.3540 Turkish liras.
